Torta Desserts Kitchen Catering
From growing up in the kitchen I wanted to cook and learn to make all the sweet treats and kitchen concoctions using all the cool kitchen equipment that my mom and dad used while in the restaurant and catering business. There were just all these amazing appliances in the restaurant and catering business. I think we had it all...Bar & Beverage Equipment, Commercial Kitchen Equipment, Cooking & Warming Equipment, Cookware & Kitchen Tools, Food Preparation Equipment, Furniture, Signs & Decor, Refrigeration & Ice Machines, Tabletop & Serving Gear, Vending & Tabletop Concessions, Tabletop Concession Machines and that's not even digging into all the kitchen gadgets and kitchen gear we needed to have a business and of course, my mom and dad knew how to have some fun. However, it was my grandmother who truly made the lasting impression on me.
When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my grandmother - she was a wonderful cook and she had the knack for making great desserts too. She grew up in Europe, where her family had a bakery, so I suppose it was in her blood and mine too. I credit her for the love I have for cooking and creating special baked goods and desserts. And it’s also her patience with me as a child that has made it so easy for me to enjoy cooking with my children. I highly recommend it for all parents. Because it’s really not about what you make, or even how it turns out, but about the wonderful time spent together and the memories that will last forever.
Next time you’re trying to come up with something different to do with your child, how about making a batch of cookies, or a frozen fruit treat? Or you can make banana muffins, cupcakes, chocolate covered pretzels…anything fun and simple. You can start by just letting your little one add an ingredient, or help with the mixing, or spoon the cupcake batter into the cupcake liner. And it doesn’t have to be perfect, it’s actually better if it isn’t- because you want them to remember the joy of cooking. So make it fun and then enjoy the tasty results with some milk or a hot cocoa. It’s just that simple.
Baking Tools for Every Kitchen: Whether you’re setting up house for the 1st time or replenishing worn-out pieces, here are some great baking tools you to have on hand in your kitchen. As you know, any project goes a lot smoother when you have the right tools!
Let’s start with baking sheets-which includes both cookie sheets as well as jellyroll pans. If you’re on a budget, you can get by with just a couple of cookie sheets and skip the jelly roll pan- but be sure to purchase the best sheets that fit within your budget.
In the cake pan category, you have round and square cake pans as well as items like loaf pans, flan pans and more. Loaf pans are great for breads such as banana or zucchini breads, as well as loaf cakes like a simple, golden cake. We like the nice stainless steel pans, without the non-stick coating.
You’ll need some good mixing bowls and measuring tools to get your project started. Mixing bows come in a variety of sizes and materials including glass, stainless steel, and ceramic. The larger bowls are good for mixing while the smaller bowls are ideal for pre-measuring ingredients.
Handy utensils and measuring tools range from rubber spatulas and whisks for mixing, measuring cups and spoons, timers, scales, and an electric mixer. The trick is finding the necessary cabinet space to store all of your great kitchen gadgets!
“I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process…. It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?”
There are legions of chocoholics and chocolate fanatics among us and the truthfully, how many of us can turn down an offer of chocolate? Its use dates back thousands of years when it was first used as a drink prior the Maya civilization. Now, whether it’s dark, milk or white- chocolate has become one of the most popular flavors in the world. Some say that part of the pleasure of enjoying chocolate is due to its melting point being lower than ours, causing it to “melt in our mouth.” And to think it all begins with the football-sized fruit of the cacao tree.
Now we’ve all had chocolate in many forms, and some does taste so much better than others. So what is it that makes them different? Are there “chocolate-tasting” events held much like “wine-tasting” events? Yes, there are! Many people plan home parties with a chocolate tasting theme – some even bringing in a resident “expert” stocked with a variety of quality chocolates for the guests to savor. Here are some simple ways to experience chocolate and learn to taste the difference. These are things you’ll want to keep in mind if you plan on using chocolate in your baking and want the best results. Here are some features to look for:
- How does it look? You’ll want it to be smooth and shiny looking. If it’s cracked and dull, it’s probably not very fresh and will negatively affect the results of your dessert dish.
- How does it smell? Much like evaluating wine, you’ll want to take sniffs of the chocolate. Fresh, tasty chocolate should smell good and make you want to eat it! If it doesn’t smell good, it won’t likely taste very good.
- Does it break nicely or does it crumble? A nice, clean break will indicate the quality is good.
- How does it taste? It should taste and feel good in your mouth. It should melt into a creamy texture and it should leave a pleasing taste in your mouth afterwards. It should taste and feel satisfying.
Whether you’re just starting out in your 1st kitchen or adding to you favorite baking tools you already have, you’ll have more fun creating your favorite goodies if you keep the basic necessities nearby. There’s nothing worse than getting ready to make a pie or cake and realizing you’re missing one of the essential items to get the job done. Then you end up running out to the store and paying more than you should have for something that may not be the best tool you could have chosen for your money.
Stainless steel cookie sheets, square or round cake pans, loaf pans, muffin pans, potholders and oven mitts, mixing bowls and whisks - these are just a few of the many tools you’ll want to have to bake up your holiday desserts in a snap!
We are kitchen kookoo's and love it... can you tell? Enjoy!
